JF Classic Cars have for sale :
An exciting opportunity to acquire one of the most recognisable small-capacity motorcycles of the 1970s – a beautifully presented 1974 Yamaha FS1-E "Fizzy" 50cc moped, finished in the striking and highly sought-after Yamaha Purple Pop.
Showing just 186 miles this exceptional example represents an incredibly low-mileage and remarkably well-preserved early-production FS1-E. Presented in outstanding condition throughout, it offers collectors and enthusiasts the chance to own one of Yamaha's most celebrated sports mopeds in truly impressive order.
The FS1-E requires little introduction. Introduced in the early 1970s, the "Fizzy" quickly became the aspiration of an entire generation of young riders, combining genuine motorcycle styling with a lively 49cc two-stroke engine and a five-speed gearbox. Few mopeds evoke the same sense of nostalgia, and even fewer early examples survive with such low mileage and originality.
Importantly, this machine retains its original matching frame and engine numbers, a highly desirable feature that adds significantly to its collector appeal. Finished in its correct factory colour of Yamaha Purple Pop, the bike perfectly captures the spirit and character of the era. It also retains its original pedals, an important period feature and a detail increasingly difficult to find on surviving examples.
The motorcycle presents beautifully throughout, displaying the benefits of careful ownership and preservation. The paintwork, decals and brightwork are all exceptionally well presented, while the seat remains in excellent condition and retains the correct Yamaha embossing to the rear. The instruments, trim and cycle parts all complement the bike's remarkably original appearance, creating the impression of a machine that has been cherished throughout its life.
Mechanically, the FS1-E is running and riding very well and is ready to be enjoyed immediately, whether for display, classic events or gentle weekend outings.
Coming from enthusiast ownership, the bike has been carefully maintained and preserved, with its exceptionally low indicated mileage of just 186 miles making it a particularly noteworthy example.
It is UK registered and correctly classed as a Historic Vehicle, further enhancing its appeal to collectors and classic motorcycle enthusiasts.
Finding an early 1974 FS1-E with matching numbers, only 186 miles recorded and presented in such outstanding condition is becoming increasingly rare. Examples of this calibre are highly sought after and represent an authentic and highly collectible piece of 1970s motorcycling history.
Whether destined for a private collection, museum display or occasional road use, this beautifully presented Yamaha FS1-E offers a rare opportunity to acquire an exceptionally low-mileage and highly desirable example of one of Britain's most iconic mopeds.
