DESCRIPTION
The Mk3 Ford Capri ran production from 1978-1986 and initially known as ‘Project Carla’ with having a mild update from the Mkll Capri it sold well and resulted in Ford having another Hot Hatch on its hands, Offered in many variations with even a Turbo Technics version created late into production.
EXTERNAL
A very rare GL model finished in factory upgraded Ford Apollo Green Metallic(code 2A9) The bodywork and paintworks in very good condition with panel gaps remaining as intended and boasting a glossy uniformed finish. With a single silver pinstripe running uniform from front to rear down both flanks of the car. This particular model had various external factory options fitted including black manual controlled door mirrors in the very best of condition along with the optional black vinyl roof which remains unmarked and in impeccable condition. Housed within a manual tilt/slide sunroof working beautifully. Retaining the originality of this vehicle matching original tinted glass remains being another factory upgrade. With black wrap around bumpers front and rear sitting as intended, With the twin original ‘Hella’ headlamps fitted with no chips along with the original rear lamps. With factory fit Black louvered Front Grill in as good condition as the day it left the factory. Factory fit black external door handles fitted a rare option chosen at the time. All trims along with original badges and rear boot spoiler are in the very best of condition consistent with the vehicles mileage.
This particular model had the factory Ziebert underside vehicle rustproofing carried out with the original certificate present costing £98.28 extra.
INTERNAL
Opening the doors and you step back into the late seventies time warp and Ford Tan(code B1) Diamond fabric interior in spotless condition with the seats front and rear showing no signs of wear, The front seats having reclining backs working as intended. The tan thick pile interior carpet sits well and showing limited signs of wear again consistent with the ownership and low miles along with the door cards. Manual windows work as intended as do the internal adjustments for the door mirrors. The dashboards free from cracks and fade housing a glovebox with lock and internal lamp, Cigarette lighter, speedometer, rev counter, fuel and temperature gauges along with warning lights for alternator, oil pressure, main beam, direction indicators, and handbrake warning light. With heater vent directional switches and 2 speed fan all working as intended. Further switches include heated rear window, tailgate wash/wipe, rear fog lights and hazard warning switch all working correctly. With a factory upgrade music system fitted ‘Phillips AC460AM’ Pushbutton radio/stereo cassette player. Only truly amazing original example.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the legendary 2.0-ltr Petrol Ford Pinto engine with twin venture carburettor fitted with automatic choke and SX2000 electronic ignition. Producing 113bhp at 5200rpm pushing you to a top speed of 109mph. Having been subject to a complete engine restoration having all consumables replaced with motocraft parts this maintains the originality of a very special vehicle. The 4 speed synchromesh gearbox is precise and engages all gears with ease with a smooth uptake on the clutch pedal.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Having Falken 165R13 tyres fitted all round in as new condition with plenty of tread left on them, Having original factory fit five inch rim sports road wheels with bright rim embellishers fitted and in the best of condition. In the boot the spare remains original from factory along with the original jack and handle.
With disc calliper brakes up front and drums to the rear along with vacuum servo-assisted brakes ensuring your brought to a precise controlled stop.
