DESCRIPTION

The MK5 Ford Cortina, also known as the Cortina 80, was the final iteration of the iconic Ford Cortina lineup before being replaced by the Ford Sierra. It was produced between 1979 and 1982 and remained one of Britain’s best-selling cars during that time

EXTERNAL

Finished in Caribbean Blue (paint code J2) panels sit beaming and glossy, Being original you would expect nothing less. Distinctive Crusader pinstripes running down both flanks, Horizontal black slat grill sitting beautifully between unmarked original headlamps, Black and chrome bumpers sitting mark free, Light lenses front and rear remain original and unmarked

Chrome exterior door and window trim presents very well with no tarnishing, Along with chrome door handles front and rear, Original stamped glazing accompanies throughout, 

Badging remains original and correctly positioned to the boot lid

INTERNAL

Open the passenger side or drivers side door and you step back into the early eighties, Large armchair seats in 'Shark Grey/Steel Grey' Fabric present in unmarked condition throughout, Luxury thick pile carpet showing no wear, With being a special model the door cards present carpeted to the lower section along with wood veneer cappings to the top which show no sign of ageing or fade

Perforated roof lining sitting as tight as the day it left the factory along with the original switchgear having had very little use since the vehicles covered very few miles from new, Having a basic but functional dashboard with soft touch plastics Ford had it covered with a glove box sitting on the passenger side along with the directional heater vent, To the centre twin directional heater vents along with the eighties push in cigarette lighter (unused)

Internal heater panel sits directly under incorporating Fan Speed, Temperature and Directional Control slider switches, Further you have the pull out retro Ashtray

Original Ford P21 Push Button Radio accompanies, Drivers binnacle consists of fuel and temperature to the left along with a Quartz analogue time clock centre stage, Speedometer displaying 11973 miles from new to the right, Cursory warning light run along the bottom distinguishing as per manufacturer specification

Four spoke soft touch steering wheel displaying little if any wear again consistent with the original mileage displayed 

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

Having the 1600cc overhead cam petrol engine fitted(pinto) which runs on the first flick of the key and mated to a four speed manual gearbox(type 3), With the standard single choke carburettor fitted originality has been preserved throughout, Pushing out 73-75bhp in standard form more than enough for a leisurely drive, Drive take ups smooth throughout all gears along with having covered little miles it still feels tight and pleasant to drive

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

Originality preserved with 13" four stud Steel wheels in excellant condition along with chrome rim embellishers which sit gleaming, Shod with 165/80/R13 Hankook tyres on each corner which present as new displaying maximum tread, Original steel wheel to the spare along with original jack and brace neatly positioned within the boot

Disc caliper brakes to the front and drums to the rear along with diagonally split vacuum assited servo braking ensuring your brought to a steady controlled halt at all times

History File

First registered on the 6th August 1982 being supplied by Ford Dealer 'Page of Epsom' This superb low mileage examples one of the very last of the Ford Cortina production line which ceased at the Dagenham plant in July 1982

Still retaining the original dealer rear window sticker and matching number plates to this day, Supplied new to a Mr Wade who unfortunatly after a short while of owning the vehicle suddenly passed away, The vehicle remained with Mrs Wade who simply could not bring herself to let the the vehicle go and retained the car for over a further twenty years, The time then did came for the vehicle to be moved on to it's next loving owner who carried on the tradition of simply doting over the vehicle,

This timewarp example would not look out of place today in a museum or pride of place within a showroom adorned by other superb examples, Having covered under 12000 miles from new, Original throughout from the underside(as per leaving the factory) to the interior this quite simply needs to be viewed to be appreciated.
